Park View’s new Garden Club an instant success
Our Park View Care Home with Nursing staff and residents have been taking advantage of the fantastic June weather. The front terrace has had a summer make over with the new potted plants and a new canopy. This coincided with the launch of a new Garden Club to oversee the cultivation of new plants in the ground, potted and seedlings growing in the new green house.
Mally and Tony, our great maintenance estates guys, erected our green house a few weeks ago and doesn't it look great?
Faith, Gordon, Harvey, Stan and Diane lead the way as founder members of the new Garden Club, with help from Diane's granddaughter (a fellow care worker).
Meanwhile, Derek, Linda and Gordon are managing the green house project and, after putting grow bags and pots in place, we now have a selection of herbs, tomatoes ( 4 varieties ), and courgettes to get us going for the time being. The kitchen is already starting to use the parsley and chives for toppings. Can't wait to see this project grow and using the fresh vegetables and toms for our cycle menu.
Topsoil and watering cans at the ready, everyone had a great time planting and getting their hands dirty. On such glorious days it is wonderful to be outdoors – with hats, sun cream and very cold drinks at hand, of course.
There are a great variety of plants which will hopefully blossom soon – we are looking forward to seeing a colour display on the terrace.
