Bayswood proud to support the Elexis Brown Golf Foundation
The Bayswood Care Group was proud to sponsor the inaugural Elexis Brown Golf Foundation Junior Competition held on 17th June. The competition saw players compete on the iconic par 3 course at Nailcote Hall for a place in one of the most prestigious short course tournaments in the country.
The two boys and girls with the best gross scores qualified for the British Par Three Championship Pro-Am in August. Sky Sports will televise the four-day festival which attracts some of the best-known pros and sporting celebrities in the country.
The Elexis Brown Golf foundation was set up in memory of Leicestershire-based and Lincolnshire County girls’ junior golfer, Elexis Brown, who died suddenly in 2021. Elexis’ mum, Hayley, is a much-loved team member at Dane View Care Home. When Elexis’ father, Ben Peter, asked Bayswood Director, Jatinder Singh, to support the foundation by sponsoring the special golf event in memory of Elexis, Jatinder didn’t have to think twice.
The foundation wants to support participation in golf by children who come from underprivileged or disadvantaged backgrounds. The foundation will fundraise and gain support from our community, businesses and others, to give back to children who normally would not have the chance to play golf.
To achieve this, Ben says, “We look for any children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with low incomes. We know that golf is a privileged sport for many. We want to be able to show that anyone can take part and we will support this. Elexis was acutely aware she was competing against kids whose parents could afford all the best gear, coaching and support. We are grateful to Bayswood Care Group for sponsoring the event so we can assist children from poorer backgrounds, ethnic minorities, or with disabilities, as they get into golf.”
Jatinder says, “The Competition was a fantastic day played out in glorious sunshine. I want to congratulate the winners and wish them every success in the forthcoming British Par Three Championship. I am so pleased for Ben and Hayley, to see the Golf Foundation’s success providing a fitting tribute and legacy – reflecting the positive ethos their talented daughter will always represent.”
