Rooms with a view to compassionate support
For those who don’t know, Dane View has a fascinating history, including having once been a convent. The attic at Dane View accommodated nuns, but rooms have remained empty for many years – until now, that is.
Gary and his maintenance team have converted four rooms into shiny new hotel standard accommodation for visitors and oversees nurses.
Group Marketing Manager, Kelly, was the first to test one of the rooms on their completion. As the picture shows, the room is comfortable and homely. Kelly says, ‘The rooms are set away from the rest of the house so offer a peaceful retreat. I stayed in “Steeple View” and found the skyline windows created an airy ambience and gave me a great view over Leicester.’
Home Manager, Rebecca, says, ‘The rooms provide accommodation to our overseas nurses on arrival – until they can sort themselves. They have been mainly created, however, for visitors with loved ones on End of Life care. Some relatives do not live in the area, and hotels can be very expensive. We will put them up free of charge on site – so they can be there to offer comfort and support to their loved ones.’
Training and support in relation to End of Life is a core strength at Dane View. The opening of the rooms adds a new dimension to involving loved ones in the provision of that care.
‘Offering a comfortable space to have restful time to reflect and relax is integral to our dignified approach to End of Life,’ Rebecca says, ‘and I am delighted at the great job Gary’s team has done making the rooms homely and comfortable.’
