Activities boost for Dane View

One of the most important jobs in any care home is that of Activities Coordinator.

Maintaining a full programme of diverse activities for residents of all physical and mental abilities / capacity is not an easy task. For that reason, Dane View Care Home with Nursing is delighted to welcome experienced Activities professional, Aimee, to the team.

Aimee joins with seven years of diverse experience working in adult day care services. Aimee provided activities and trips for adults at a day centre and in the supported living environment. Although Aimee admits she stumbled upon the role by chance, she quickly found she enjoyed the challenge of making a real difference in people's lives. Whether it was providing company, supporting educational activities, going on shopping trips or to the cinema, Aimee covered a wide range of activities for those she interacted with.

Aimee says, ‘I enjoyed my time in adult care because every day was different, however, I have an interest in dementia care and wanted to find something more in that field. When I saw the job advert for the Activities Coordinator at Dane View, I thought it was a perfect match for my skills within more of a team environment and working in a beautiful setting.’

Aimee is relishing the opportunities that moving from adult to elderly social care brings and wants to make a difference at Dane View, saying, ‘Activities are fun and very important to the welfare of residents. When I walk into a room, I hate seeing a person slumped back in a chair. I want to get that buzz back for them and see them totally engaged in an activity that is relevant to their interests and on a level with their capabilities.’

Aimee is currently setting up an activity plan for the home. The plan will be multi-faceted, with very simple fun tasks and games, all the way through to day trips to external venues.

Out of work, Aimee has two children, one who is only 15 months old. Aimee says, ‘At the moment my time out of work is taken up with my adorable children. I love spending quality time with them!’

We all wish Aimee the best of luck in her new role at Dane View.
