Brooklands retains ‘Outstanding’ Status from the CQC
Team Delighted with Outstanding Award
The Bayswood Care Group is delighted to have retained our ‘Outstanding’ accreditation from the CQC. Brooklands is our smallest nursing and care home, providing personal and nursing care for up to eight people. The service provides support to people with acquired brain injuries and complex care needs.
The CQC’s summary of findings from their latest inspection says, ‘[Brooklands] put people at the centre of care and support, which met people’s complex needs. Feedback we received included, “I cannot fault them. They are absolutely fantastic.” And, “I would say the care is excellent.” Staff understood their roles and responsibilities.’
Fiona Poole, acting manager at Brooklands, says, ‘The outstanding accreditation is testimony to the brilliant team of nurses and carers we have in place here. They build strong relationships with the residents, leading to many documented improvements in residents’ cognitive and physical abilities, as well as their emotional wellbeing.’
Fiona’s comment is confirmed in the report, with one relative telling the CQC, ‘I find [Brooklands] absolutely brilliant. [My relative] has come on leaps and bounds … When she first went in, she was doing nothing; now she is smiling, trying to reach out to you. It’s down to the care she has received.’
The team in place at Brooklands is praised throughout the CQC document.
The CQC says, ‘Staff worked well together and supported people towards positive outcomes. Staff enjoyed their work and spoke positively about the service, each other and the support they received. One staff member told [the CQC], “I feel supported. If I had any issues I would go to [Manager]. We are a good team.”’
Group Director, Amarveer Singh, believes the report validates the direction homes within the Bayswood Care Group are taking. ‘We believe in personal-centric care. It is a mantra within Bayswood Care and one we continually focus on. Ultimately it comes down to the benefits our residents see. We are privileged to have residents entrusted to our care, so to see improvements to their wellbeing acknowledged and documented by the CQC means we must be doing something right!’
